Let’s Talk About Roaches and How to Stop Them

You’re not alone. Almost every homeowner in Rialto or Fontana has dealt with roaches at some point. They’re sneaky, fast, and way too comfortable living rent-free in your kitchen. Let’s talk about what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how to finally kick them out.
What Roaches Do All Day
During the day, they hide. Think tight cracks, under your fridge, behind the stove, inside cabinets—anywhere dark, warm, and close to food.
When the lights go out, that’s when the party starts. They crawl out to grab crumbs, lick up grease, and find water around sinks or pet bowls. Then they head back to their hiding spots before you wake up.
If you’re seeing roaches during the day, it usually means there are a lot more hiding that you can’t see.
Why They Act Like That
Roaches love three things: food, water, and warmth. They stick to their routine because it keeps them safe. They travel the same “roads” every night, following scent trails from their nest to your kitchen and back. Once they find an easy food source, they’ll keep coming back—and bring friends.
How to Break Their Routine
Here’s what actually works:
1. Take away their hiding spots.
Pull your fridge and stove out. Vacuum all the crumbs and dust behind them. Seal up cabinet gaps, pipe openings, and cracks with caulk or foam. The fewer places they have to hide, the easier it is to hit them where they live.
2. Hit them where they travel.
Use small dots of gel bait along baseboards, behind appliances, and anywhere you’ve seen them move at night. Add growth regulators near warm spots to stop them from breeding.
3. Starve them.
Wipe your counters every night. Empty pet bowls before bed. Fix leaks and dry out sinks. Keep food sealed tight in containers. The goal is to make your kitchen boring to them.
Why You Shouldn’t Wait
Roaches don’t just go away. One female cockroach can lead to hundreds in just a few months. They spread bacteria, trigger asthma, and make your kitchen feel gross fast.
Waiting only makes it worse—and harder to treat.
